Volunteers assist and supplement the work of CABVI staff in a variety of ways.  Responsibilities can include:

  • Reading newspapers or other printed materials on-the-air at our radio station.

  • Reading newspapers, magazine articles or other materials over the telephone for our dial-in service.

  • Tape recording manuals, textbooks and other materials at home or in our studios.

  • Reading work-related materials for staff who are visually impaired.

  • Providing transportation or sighted guide assistance for staff who are blind to provide services to clients in homes or on the job.

  • Transporting materials or equipment.

  • Providing office support for mailings, photocopying, filing, cassette tape duplication, phone calls, data entry, etc.

  • Staffing displays or information booths.

  • Giving talks in the community about blindness.

  • Participating in projects such as bulk mailings or special outings.

All of these volunteer activities are valuable contributions to our organization and help us to achieve our mission.
