VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

As of 8/25/08 - (All opportunities are subject to change).

RADIO READING SERVICES- read newspapers over the radio for people who are blind, visually impaired and physically disabled. Reading takes place at our studio on Gilbert Avenue.

- Friday, USA Today Light News; 1-2 p.m.
- City Beat -- 30 minutes on Thursday or Friday

VOLUNTEER ENGINEERING COORDINATOR NEEDED -  Maintain and repair broadcasting equipment for WRRS. Experience with electronic test equipment, functional diagrams, electronic circuits and schematic circuits is preferred, but specific training will be provided. Needed one to two times a month for 2-3 hours, day and time are flexible.

ONE ON ONE VOLUNTEERS- Could you read to someone in his/her home or in a Senior Facility once a week for an hour?  Some of the clients living in their own homes also need transportation to the bank, grocery store, or doctor; or someone may just be in need of a friendly visitor. Being a One-on-One volunteer means direct contact with a client about once a week. We have a variety of requests from clients in various parts of town, so if you would like to volunteer by providing direct assistance to an individual this may be a good opportunity for you.

Volunteer drivers use their own vehicle and must have a good driving record and full insurance coverage.   Reimbursement for mileage is provided
